Date and time information plays an important role in the Web, both for machine processing and for direct human consumption. It is a commendable goal to simplify the amount of code needed to handle common date and time formats.
Next Steps: There is no single W3C activity into which this Submission uniquely falls. The XML Schema Part 2: Datatypes Recommendation, published in 2001, contains a specification for dateTime consistent with this Submission. The document will remain as a W3C Note for reference by the relevant projects. We have established a special mail address datetime-comments@w3.org in order to collect comments on this Profile for future consideration should a Working Group take this topic up specifically. Comments could also be addressed to the XML Schema Datatypes Recommendation as instructed in that document.
