We, Netscape Communications Corporation, hereby submit to the Consortium the following specification comprising the document(s) linked below:
which is referred to as "the submission". We request the submission be known as the JSSS submission.
This document specifies a method to attach styles to HTML documents using the existing property-based language JavaScript. This document does not attempt to explain the JavaScript syntax. JavaScript documentation is publicly available from Netscape.

JavaScript Style Sheets retain the JavaScript language terms and conditions, but there are no other terms and conditions applied.
The submission may distributed within the membership of the W3C free of any fee.
JavaScript standardization will be initiated in ECMA in November (30 day Call). There will be no restrictions on the availability of this specification imposed by Netscape. (optionally)The submission may be distributed publicly free of any fee

The following points should be noted as regards licensable technology involved in any third party implementations of the technology specified in the submission: There are no known proprietary technologies required to use JavaScript Style Sheets.
We would like W3C to progress the specification to a recommended practice
To help with this work, Netscape will work within the W3C ERB to complete the standardization process for this specification.
Should any changes be required to the document, JavaScript Style Sheets will be subject to normal W3C processes for change and update.
