"WSDL 1.1 Binding Extension for SOAP 1.2" and "SOAP 1.1 Binding for MTOM 1.0" Specifications Submission Request to W3C

We, W3C Members IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP AG hereby submit to the Consortium the following specifications, comprising the following documents attached hereto:

  1. WSDL 1.1 Binding Extension for SOAP 1.2
  2. SOAP 1.1 Binding for MTOM 1.0

referred to as "the Submission".

Abstract

The submission consists of two specifications which address the composition of technologies associated with the Member Submissions for SOAP 1.1 and WSDL 1.1 with W3C Recommended technologies SOAP 1.2 and MTOM.

WSDL 1.1 Binding Extension for SOAP 1.2

This specification defines WSDL 1.1 binding extensions to indicate that Web service messages are bound to the SOAP 1.2 protocol.

SOAP 1.1 Binding for MTOM 1.0

This specification details the necessary modifications to the SOAP Message Transmission Optimization Mechanism (MTOM) and XML-binary Optimized Packaging (XOP) specs necessary to successfully use these technologies with SOAP 1.1.

SAP hereby grants to the W3C, a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any SAP copyrights in this contribution to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.

Patents

IBM

The organization I represent on the W3C Advisory Committee agrees to offer licenses according to the W3C Royalty-Free licensing requirements described in section 5 of the 5 February 2004 W3C Patent Policy for any portion of the Submission that is subsequently incorporated in a W3C Recommendation.

Microsoft

The organization I represent on the W3C Advisory Committee agrees to offer licenses according to the W3C Royalty-Free licensing requirements described in section 5 of the 5 February 2004 W3C Patent Policy for any portion of the Submission that is subsequently incorporated in a W3C Recommendation.

Oracle

The organization I represent on the W3C Advisory Committee agrees to offer licenses according to the W3C Royalty-Free licensing requirements described in section 5 of the 5 February 2004 W3C Patent Policy for any portion of the Submission that is subsequently incorporated in a W3C Recommendation.

SAP

The organization I represent on the W3C Advisory Committee agrees to offer licenses according to the W3C Royalty-Free licensing requirements described in section 5 of the 5 February 2004 W3C Patent Policy for any portion of the Submission that is subsequently incorporated in a W3C Recommendation.

Required proprietary technology

These specifications depend upon the SOAP 1.1 and WSDL 1.1 Member Submissions.

Suggested action

The purpose of this submission is primarily archival. We do not suggest any further action be taken on these specifications within the W3C at this time.

Since no further work is requested, we don't anticipate devoting further resources to this material.
