As smartphones grow in popularity, speech interfaces are becoming more integrated with visual displays and keypad input. There are clear advantages to providing users with the most suitable interface for particular tasks - - the best of both worlds. But the fact that we can do this doesn't mean that we always should, and the added design challenges of multiple input modalities need to be addressed.
