Multimodal interfaces combining speech, touch and typing are a natural fit for interaction with small mobile devices. While generic personal assistants like Siri have been around for a couple of years and serve a wide audience, more focused enterprise-specific applications like customer service and shopping are also starting to appear. This raises the question of how enterprise multimodal applications will be developed. What tools, platforms, and standards are available, and what are their advantages and disadvantages? How do standards like HTML5 and the W3C Multimodal Architecture support multimodal applications? This talk will review the available tools, technologies and standards for mobile multimodal applications.
